Speaking at CREW: Exploring How AI is Reshaping Commercial Real Estate — and Everyone In It
I recently had the opportunity to speak on a panel for CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women), a group bringing together professionals across commercial real estate — from agents and bankers to developers, insurers, and environmental experts.
Our discussion centered around how AI is transforming commercial real estate, but I took the conversation a bit wider. Because AI isn’t just a technology trend—it’s a shift in how businesses and buyers operate.
AI Is Changing Your Buyers As Much As It’s Changing Your Business
One of my main points was that AI transformation isn’t just about tools—it’s about perspective. Even if your company hasn’t yet implemented AI, your buyers already live in a world shaped by it. They research differently, make faster decisions, and expect personalized, data-driven experiences.
I referenced my book, The Omniscient Buyer, which explores how AI and data are changing buyer behavior and what it means for every industry—including real estate. The companies (and professionals) that thrive won’t just use AI; they’ll think like their buyers in an AI-driven world.
Learn It. Use It. Or Fall Behind.
I also shared a simple truth: even if you’re skeptical about AI, you can’t afford to ignore it. The professionals who stay relevant in the next decade will be those who know how to use AI—not just talk about it.
You don’t need to be an engineer or data scientist. Every professional can—and should—start experimenting. Whether it’s using AI to summarize client calls, analyze transcripts, generate ideas, or draft follow-ups, small daily uses of AI can create big shifts in productivity and insight.
Practical AI Is Already Here
During the discussion, we talked about real-world, practical ways AI is being used in commercial real estate:
- Analyzing market data and environmental reports faster.
- Drafting listing descriptions and investor memos.
- Summarizing meetings or deal discussions automatically.
- Generating creative marketing content that still sounds human.
AI isn’t replacing people—it’s amplifying those who use it.
Speaking to CREW reminded me how cross-industry this transformation really is. Whether you’re in real estate, banking, or marketing, AI is reshaping the way we work, think, and connect.
And for anyone still sitting on the sidelines, my advice is simple: get curious, get hands-on, and get ahead.
